My sister has been bleeding in excess for about 9 months now. She goes through several pads a day. Along with the bleeding, she gets very large clots. The other day she had bleeding and clots so bad that it ran down to her shoe. She has had several tests done and nothing was diagnosed. She does have dysplasia and colitis. Could this be caused by those or a tumor or cyst? I think the doctors are not looking in the right direction.

Hopefully she is seeing an OB-GYN...Even bring a Urologist into it if something is not found out...I am not a professional, but it sure sounds like Endometriosis to me...I would think that she would be anemic from all this bleeding...Good luck...

i've been having irregular periods for a while. when they were heavy i had large clots, and i changed my tampon every 2 hours. then i would go through a month of spotting. the doctor has taken tests on me and found nothing wrong so they say i just have d.u.b = dysfunctional uterine bleeding by hormonal imbalance. so the only thing they can do is try to regulate my period. and i m so frustrated b/c after surgery hysteroscopy and d&c i still have irregular periods.
so your doctor maybe right. tell your sister to have patients and keep going to the doctors. if you dont like what he says try to get a second opinion.
