Q: Excess gastric acid causing nausea and vomiting
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 26th, 2009
My problem has nothing (i dont think it does) to do with my heart, but I wake up every morning and feel nauseated and sometime vomit because of how intense it is. This morning it was so bad I immideatly began to vomit. Its color was very yellow and mucuasy. I am just sick and tired of waking up and feeling like this.

I was reading a blog on nausea in the morings and alot of them said it was due tp depression and anxiety. I was on a anti depression med for a while and then in the begin ing of december i quit taking them. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. but any suggestion would be greatly appreaciated

One of the possible causes for nausea can be an excess of gastric acid that was collected during the night, but did not proceed further through the intestines. This possible condition combined with chronic inflammation of the gaster can cause the symptoms you reported. However, an exact diagnosis can be given only after a thorough examination by a specialist for the upper gastrointestinal tract.
