Q: ETAC rather than Abortion

Abortion is unnecessary with the implementation of the Embryo Transfer and Adoption Center (ETAC). The embryo from a woman intending to end her pregnancy is transferred to a woman seeking an adopted child, or her surrogate. Surrogates and adoptive parents are pre-screened and entered in a common database, shared by all ETACs. Counseling is an essential part of the process. An intended outcome would include the embryo donor agreeing to serve as the surrogate for the adoptive parent, making embryo transfer unnecessary. The donor may also come to appreciate the recognized value of the embryo to others and to herself and decide to remain the parent, making adoption unnecessary. Where adoption does occur, it is efficient, timely and inexpensive. ProChoice and ProLife interests are served by ETAC and both movements can direct their combined resources to the full utilization and success of ETACs.

Well that should surely be an option at abortion clinics. Both result in the termination of the current pregnancy while method destroys/kills the embryo the other simply removes it. Is this really an option or some utopian dream of a real middle ground to abortion?

Because for this to really work and be a viable option, a woman would have to come in days after conception long before a pregnancy could even be detected by standard pregnancy tests done now. If scientist were to ever discover a way to alert a woman that she indeed had an embryo (a fertilized egg that has not yet implanted in her uterus) in her uterus or even on its way to her uterus they could safely do this "ETAC."

Embryo transfer is not reality at this point in time. Even if it were, I'd still advocate for legal abortion, it still should be the woman's choice. I do not agree with adoption, would never place a child for adoption, so why would I do it to an embryo?

Its not possible at this time, if you read into it you will realize that the body would reject an egg from another body, unless they were compatible.

I'm all about choice and people allowing themselves the freedom of choice in their lives but I do think it is a great idea!

I think abortion should simply mean removing the pregnancy from her body. Why would you CARE what happens after its gone , its just a clump of cells?
