Thank you for your question on ehealthforum.com

Hernia repair is usually very successful with the present day surgical technique where a mesh is used to prevent recurrence and also to make the abdominal wall strong. With these mesh based surgical techniques the recurrence rates have been brought down to 1% or less. Complications following surgery are also very rare; they may vary from numbness in inguinal region, pain, discomfort and very rarely bruising, hematoma etc.

However, sexual function is not affected. It is not known to cause any sexual functional dysfunction. The underlying cause in your case may not be related to surgery, unless there were significant complications following surgery. General examination with particular attention to operated area, hormonal assays will help in coming to the diagnosis of your problem and help in management. Please consult your doctor-surgeon who operated on you before you seek any other opinion. Thank you.
