I think so. Mine was an epidural. Good luck with your surgery. Welcome to e-health.

Don't do an epidural
I had a hysterectomy - full blown - and I didn't know the doctor was even considering an epidural. No one discussed it with me. After the fact, I found out the anesthesiologist used one. I didn't link my lower chronic back pain with the surgery until someone recently discussed a connection between the two. I'm 42 and I am upset that this was used without my knowledge. No risks or side effects were ever discussed with me. IN fact, I found out only because in the hospital, I asked the nurse why I had a sore spot and scab on my back. While it reduced the pain - I actually had absolutely no pain post operatively - I'd rather have the post operative short term pain than have to deal with this lower chronic back pain for the rest of my life. Please ask your doctor questions and weigh the benefits before your surgery to find out if it's right for you.
If I had to do this all over again, I'd recommend to everyone I know don't do it !!!
