Hi Doctor,

I am Female and 25 years old.In my child hood(less than age 10) i had primary complex and it was cured that time by medicines.I had BCG vaccine in my childhood.

recently, before 2.5 years,i can see small lymph node enlargement on the left side of neck.only i can see when i turn the head to right side. till now,it dint increase in size.its look same size.now i had gone to doctor.

he took chest xray-its normal.
he told to do mantoux test-its 15 mm.
he told to do FNAC-Doctors couldnt do FNAC at my lymph node(they told its too small and movable, and they tried and told me its like tissue.nothing came out.(they tried three times).
doctor suggested biopsy also.
my blood test s all fine.i dont have symptoms of tb.only i have some morning cough.

doctor, pls tell me why this small lymph node enlargement happened?IS it LNTB or simple infection(nothing to worry)?is it neccessary to do a biopsy.pls tell me.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
You have no symptoms, except maybe cough in the morning. This could also be allergic. If you had BCG vaccine as a child then a 15mm induration (edema) can be expected. This should be considered normal in a person who had exposure to BCG vaccination. Also your chest X-ray is clear. You need to access the cough. If it is present only early in the morning it could be due to gastric reflux or GERD.
Sometimes a self limiting infection causes a lymph node to swell. This then persists without any increase in size, shape or texture. Such nodes do not need to be excised or biopsied.
However without examining it is difficult to give a confirmed diagnosis on net. Please discuss this with your doctor and do as advised. Hope this helps. Take care!
