Can it be passed down to your children? I have a severe case of it and I was wanting to know the percentage that it is hereditary. Nobody else in my family has it, but I have heard from others that several women would have it in one family. So, just wondered. Want to have children one day if possible, I know it's harder to conceive with endometriosis. So, was wanting to know everything I can find out about the disease.

I have it, my aunt (my mothers sister) has it. She had a hysterectomy. My mother was never diagnosed, but I remember when I was little that she was in ALOT of pain and had heavy periods. I think she had it, but she has since hit menopause and she's great. I also wonder if my daughter will get it. At least I know what the symtoms are so if she does develope them, she won't have to wait years to find out the cause like I did.

Other than going to an OB/GYN that either specializes in it (or going to one who has a great deal of experience) I have'nt found any at home remedies or pain control other than birth control. My DR put me on YAZ, it has a lower incidence of cuasing depression. I've had severe postpartum derpression, my DR thought that would be the best choice for me. I took it for 3 months, and WOW! It greatly improved my symptoms. It took my 10 day, heavy, exteremly painful period down to 4 days. My flow is now normal. I have no more spotting. The pain between my periods is almost gone, the pain during my period has improved but I need something for the 3 days before my period and the first day of my period. I have an appt. on April 6th to see if he will give me something for those really bad days. Ibrophren, Tylenol, Asprin, Aleve, they did nothing for me. My pain is so bad, that I can't even sit down on my bottom. It causes horrible stabbing pains. As does wiping, coughing, sneezing, bowel movements, peeing. My period is the worst days of my life. I compare my pain to labor and childbirth. Even though it has improved. I trully feel for you! When I had enough of it, I didn't have insurance so I found a local neighborhood free clinic. I live in a suburb of Cleveland (Ohio). These clinics are all over the place. The one I went to was a program through the Hospital. They wouldn't prescibe pain meds. Now I have insurance so I'm going to see the same OB/GYN that I saw at the clinic. He was really understanding and sympathetic. He said if it were his wife living with this much pain, that he would take her seriously and do what ever he could to help her. And thats how he is treating me. I never thought a male DR would be so nice. Heat helps for cramps, but the sporadic sharp pains are unrelentless. I hope you find some answers. If you need anything, please reply. Good day!
