My OBGYN is pretty sure I have endometriosis. The pain is controlled moderately well on birth control hormones. I had an MRI for something unrelated but in the same region, it showed my reproductive organs and the report commented on it. I faxed it to my OBGYN and haven't heard back yet. The wording sounds worrisome. Please help me decipher the MRI. Is there something to be worried about or is this kind of thing expected with endometriosis?

Section of MRI report that is concerning:

There is a small amount of fluid in the cul-de-sac, likely physiologic. The uterus and ovaries are identified, and are grossly unremarkable. There are multiple, bilateral ovarian follicles.

I am sure you found out by now that your results were not much to worry about, the follicals probably just mean you were ovulating at the time of MRI, other than that the fluid would be the only thing I would ask the doctor about but seems benign...hope all turned out ok 4u "-)
c ya, JoJo
