My son takes enalapril to help with the loss of protein in his urine. Not because his blood pressure is abnormal. My eldest sister's son is also taking this drug and we have recently been shocked to learn his kidney function is less than 50%. We were both advised the drug may help to slow down the process of kidney falier however, I have now read that a possible side effect to this drug could have the opposite effect. Can any one help me please by offering me advice or by educating me on how best to weigh up the pro's and con's of allowing our children to take this medication, kind regards an alports carrier.
