Q: Emergency room deaths, injuries

I've had several occasions where people close to me died when the doctors administered too much medication. My grandmother broke her leg, ended up in the emergency room after being "treated" her organs gave out and she passed away. My sister's first baby had a birth defect due to criminal negligence of the ER stuff. Yet never the there was never enough evidence for a lawyer to take up the case.
Yesterday my co worker told me another horror story , where his 7 year old niece died after being treated in the ER for pneumonia. She came in alert and conscious, but her heart stopped after receiving triple dose of antibiotics and other treatment.
Am I going crazy or the ER is really a bad place to seek help. You arrive, they hook you to things and pump u full of drugs , what's their decision process ? is there more then one person making life and death decisions ? Do i have any recourse as a patient?
what do u think, comment pls ?
