Positive thought and relaxations are essential for your health. Here are the ten tips to stay calm and happy:

-Regulate your breathing. Breathing is closely related to emotions, memories, thoughts, physical symptoms, sense of self and even personality. Slowing and calming your breathing rate promotes a physical and mental emotional state of balance and relaxation. Aim for 6-8 breathes per minute in and out through your nose.

-Meditate. In today’s fast paced, busy world, mind quieting exercises help to keep you relaxed and composed. Research shows they also promote healing and healthy immune function. Choose a quiet, clean environment, comfortable position other than lying down; use a concentration focus like a positive single syllable word, the sound of the trees or your own breathing. Regulate your breathing and do the exercise for 20 minutes. Best done daily.

-Change the Channel. Rather than trying to stop thinking worrying thoughts, try “changing the channel” to more pleasant, positive thoughts. For example it’s much easier to think about tigers than to try and stop thinking about pink elephants!
-Have an Attitude of Gratitude. Remember the things in your life you are grateful for. It is useful to keep a gratitude journal and fill it out every night. The act of writing it down makes it more powerful and meaningful.

-Choose Hope and Optimism. This is very important for healing too. Remember everyone has choices about how to feel. You may find positivity works better.

-Eat Well. Choose nutritious “live” foods over processed industrial products and keep well hydrated. This will have a massive impact on your hormone balance, blood sugar, moods and emotions, your energy and cognition and your ability to choose hope and optimism.

-Exercise regularly. Exercise is essential for keeping relaxed in balance, and healthy. You should get a mix of cardiovascular, resistance, and stretching exercise into your week. Be sure to take regular breaks from the computer to do energising postural exercises and refresh your mind.

-Choose Chiropractic Adjustments. Research shows Chiropractic care has been found to reduce circulating levels of stress hormones, as well as improve depression scores in recent studies. By keeping your nerves stimulated in a healthy way, you may find it easier to regulate your body and mind.

-Choose massage and acupuncture. These modalities have for centuries been recognized as an effective way to help relax, unwind and reduce tension.
-Get plenty of sleep. Research shows that missing a few hours of sleep raises your stress hormones for the whole of the next day. Try and choose other relaxing activities over watching TV just before bedtime.

Yours in good health
