Q: Electric shock caused penis damage ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 21st, 2009
I am convinced that electric shock (110v) (years ago) did damage to penis - glans and shaft below circumcision line. Complaints: diminished pleasure, mild abrasive on clothing (even to finger), frequent pinprick pain, background sensory discomfort/tingling that never quite goes away.

Specific concern now: sharp, shooting pain for last 18 mo. - interior along where urethra would be - worst near tip and meatus. Increase in frequency to almost daily, during urination - but same pain also happens randomly. It's sharp, stings, definitely along axis, like tooth pain. Afterward a duller discomfort lingers.

If I press on the shaft I can create this pain readily.

I can get erections mostly normally.

Question: can I have localized damage - neuralgia as someone suggested - without ED? Neuro said no - that shock should have done more to harm entire erectile function. My experience leaves me disillusioned with his assurance. What tests are there? No UTIs. Very distressed. thks

The symptoms you reported might be related to neurological disorder. A nerve in the penile tissue might be affected. Whether it is inflammation or something has put pressure on the nerve (connective tissue from previous damage or newly formed tissue) can not be told without a physical examination from urologist or neurologist.
You might want to ask for second opinion from urologist or neurologist.
