Ejection fraction is a measurement of the capacity at which your heart is pumping.
Every time the heart contracts, pumps or ejects blood into the major blood vessels.
A normal ejection fraction is 55 to 75 percent.
An ejection fraction below 50 percent indicates increased risk for congestive heart failure.
Problems with heart muscle, heart valves, uncontrolled blood pressure can all result in decreased ejection fraction.
