The mechanism of action of Levetiracetam (brand name: keppra) is unknown. Levetiracetam can very rarely cause adverse reactions that are similar to asthma. In 2% of the adverse reactions, it can even cause asthma. The lack of data about the mechanism does not allow any explanation to be given. If the symptoms increase after taking keppra, then your doctors might reconsider the dosage or taking keppra at all.
