In Africa
The parents die from AIDS related conditions and the teenage girls take to the streets as prostitutes in order to care for the family.

The youth don't have any sexual education and so are having unprotected sex. The fastest growing rate of HIV people is young women between the ages of 15 and 24.

There is a reason for this. The women are on the receiving end of the semen and also, the membrane in the vagina allows HIV to go through even without a cut. Also, the young women's membrane is not fully grown and therefore gets cuts and tears easily during sex allowing the virus access to the blood stream.

Education is one of the keys but most places do not provide education to the youth.

Hope this is helpful and all the best with your college research.

They are either get affected by their parent when they are born or sexually transmitted with unsafe sex. I had read about a website on the HIV/AIDS. The youth become more conscious of their behavior. Some of the youth develop into more spiritually strong in their mind and they eventually lead a good life like a normal person even thought they broke down when they come to know about the disease or they become a dull person.

Being a HIV positive youth, one might lost many friends. They had to face the torment of their friends leaving them. They also had go through numerous checks up and consume their medicine on a regular basis. They may feel that WHY? Out of so many people, WHY them. Especially for the youth that found themselves affected by the disease when their parent told them that they actually are HIV positive when they were born.

In general I really sympathize the youth. They are still so juvenile to go thought such dreadful disease. However with families support and various website showing about how the HIV positive youth gone through, I am sure they can still strive far in their future and continue to be active and treasure in life.
