Q: effect of condoms on anus

To be on the safe side I usually insist on wearing a condom during anal intercourse. Recently my girlfriend complained of an itch around the anal area for a couple of days after. Is the contact or friction of latex against the anus and the rectum likely to cause any problems?

If the condoms don't cause any problem when you have sex vaginally, they should not cause problems when you have sex anally. It may simply be the act itself that is causing the irritation.
