EDNOS symptoms ? Posted: 04-19-08 18:40pm
I think I have EDNOS. I say "think"
because I have never been actually
diagnosed with it, but I have always been
a VERY picky eater, and ever since I was
little my parents (and others) have told
me, "You don't eat enough to keep a bird
alive." I eat mostly (I'd say 99.8%) carbs
(pastas, potatoes, etc)...although I don't
really like bread. I will (VERY rarely)
eat fruit. I like bananas, grapes, and
strawberries, watermelon, and (some)
cantaloupe - although like I said, I
hardly ever eat the fruit. Oh, and I
really like chicken... although I still
eat mostly carbs. Oh... and I am a
choc-o-holic I could eat nothing
but pasta and chocolate for the rest of my
life and be happy.
But most of the time, I can eat a few
bites, and feel full. Sometimes it even
gets to the point where I get VERY
nauseous and I feel like if I put another
bite of food in my mouth I will throw up.
I even get a (sometimes very severe)
gagging sensation in the back of my
throat. Sometimes it gets to the point
where I wish I could throw up, just to
make the feeling go away.
I am young (22) but feel quite old at
times, have no energy (I have been known
to sleep upwards of 20 a day), I have
constant headaches (to the point where I
feel strange if I DON'T have one)
But part of me thinks I don't have an ED
because I know I am not fat... in fact, I
know that I am underweight (or at least
could stand to gain a few more pounds).
And contrary to what people with EDs feel,
I am not obsessed with staying thin or not
getting fat. I mean, I don't necessarily
want to be huge, but who does? I guess
what I am trying to say is I don't think I
think I have the body image issues
normally associated with EDs.
Does any of this make sense to anyone or
are I just rambling???
I dont think it would be considered EDNOS
at all but I would see a dr to figure out
why your not eating much, for all you know
you could have some kind of diseas or
something where certain foods make you
feel ill. Id make an appt with your
general practitioner and tell them all of
this and see what they think and maybe
they can refer you to someone who can help
figure out whats wrong with you but i
highly doubt it is an eating disorder.
