hi to everyone, ive just found this forum and id just like to ask a few questions about my condition.

i was a heavy user of ecstasy for 2years back in my uni days 2000/2001 and then since i stopped i started to notice my social anxiety where i found it hard to be round people without feeling paranoia and thinking that i have nothing to say etc.

about 2004 and i split up with my girlfriend, left my job etc and decided to see the doctor about it. i was put on some anti depressants but they didnt sem to work at all. then i read an interesting book about nutrition etc and it helped me out loads. i started by taking fish oil tablets (efalex 4 a day) and everything was great again. fininhsed my uni, got a flat etc etc.

i still noticed my paranoia and my wired social thing every now and then but i was more then able to live with it until i noticed the voice (my voice) which seems to say things every now and then, and i have visions and doing things to ppl which i dont want to do!! well my paranioa is back bigtime, im straggling to concentrate and i think im getting the symptoms of schizophrenia.

my question is are there any old ecstasy users on here who may be going throu the same thing? if so what treatments did you find most effective?

the fish oil worked find for me for about 3years but now im trying vitamin b and 5htp. i have also found that alcohol works completely for paranoia but i know this isnt the answer. thanks for you time

I guess you may have a case of drug induced psychosis. I'm no expert though so if you want a professional opinion you should see a doc. I used to take extacy and speed and smoke mull too and then I had drug induced psychosis but it was while i was using unlike you so it could be different. I couldn't tell you what really works because it sounds as though you may have a mild case (since it's yrs after use and your symptoms don't sound too strong). Be careful with coffee , if you drink it. It's funny cos I was diagnosed with drug induced psychosis about 5 nearly 6 six yrs ago. Eventually the symptoms went away unless I slipt up then they'd come back mildly. But the funny thing I was going to mention about the coffee was that in the last two weeks I was drinking a load of cafe coffee and a couple of days ago my symptoms came back... Very mildly... So yesterday i didn't have a coffee and no symptoms. It's funny how the mind works.

I'd go and chat to a doctor about it if it worries you..

turning schizo
hi. I was a heavy user of ecstasy. I used to have it every weekend (both days) for four years.

The last two years were pretty bad because I'd go schizo by the end of the 12 hour long drugged haze i was under. i thought it was just exhaustion at first but it started getting worse... even when i wasn't under the influence anymore.

so i stopped.

a year later, i still get schizo every now and then. for no apparent reason. Everytime i go schizo, it's a tough war between reality and my scary-place (really tough trying to remind myself what's real and what's not). Sleeping ALWAYS works (if i can sleep).

Alcohol helped a lot for me too by the way but i know this wasn't really a long term solution. At one time even alcohol triggered schizo moments. Coffee used to trigger it, but that was when I was still into ecstasy.

What works for me is to get LOTS of rest. I noticed that my schizo moments happened during times when i lack a lot of sleep. Don't overdo coffee. Try yoga (seriously helps, i tried it, doesn't just help with the schizo moments, you're all relaxed) or meditation.

wish i could help you some more. i know exactly what you're going through and it's rare that i find someone else who shares this stupid schizo-attack thing that was probably due to too much partying.

One of my best friends has deteriorated to what i believe is full-blown scitzophrenia.

About 8 years ago she did ecstasy on weekends and smoked a lot of cannabis for about 3 or 4 years. Then for 2 years straight she did ecstasy almost every single day. During this period I rarely saw her so I didnt know what was happening. Then her marriage fell apart, she went into a complete state of psychosis, where she was spraying random people with disinfectant, physically attacked a priest, lost her job and was hospitalized for 1 month where she thought everyone was a mime.

Her sister called me. What I saw for the next 2 years was no longer the person I knew. Here is a 33 year old woman who cant work, no longer takes care of herself, hears voices constantly (although she says her voices are comical) - she is severely delusional, worries that a "cult" is taking everyone in one at a time.

Anyway, my point being is that I am 110% sure the ecstacy did this to her, so much so that I advocate against it now. and I read in many many places that cannibis is a huge contributing factor. Whether or not she was genetically predisposed to it, I assure you the chemicals are to blame for stealing my friend.

You should be a little more paranoid in my opinion, and a bit less social also. And for god's sake get divorced already you loons. Its strange what you believe in and what makes you happy and what you view as important.

And if you haven't noticed, there are cults all over the place growing in number, unfortunately nobody even can hardly define that word in the correct manner.

People are becoming so unaware its rediculous.
Until there isn't anything to be paranoid about or there isn't any good reasons to be anti-social, aforementioned paranoia and anti-social behaviour isn't the problem, if in fact you feel these ways for the correct reasons.

I've used X a total of 1 time. I've used LSD over a period of about a decade and had a half-dozen "bad trips" I'm a prime candidate for drug psychosis but I've never had a divergent episode or any symptoms of depression or social anxiety. I'm a firm believer that other drugs are a trigger, not a cause of mental disorders.

That said, everyone that I've known that has done more than casually experiment with Extasy has developed social anxiety disorder and some have shown Schizophrenia symptoms (not diagnosed). I think if you have any genetic propensity towards these disorders that X will bring them out in you.

What you wrote made absolutely no sense at all... i can't see how it has any relevance to what I wrote or the topic period... its senseless banter like yours, and jibber talk about cults and i think you should go take your meds... no sane person wants to be or hopes to induce paranoia in themselves. Go be useful and take the whole bottle silly!!

mdma/ecstasy schitzophrenia
i'm experiencing the same symtoms after a night out in bristol last saturday, i messed up the arrangements for the evening but me in an anxious mood took pills and so did my friends, i ended up even more anxious and paranoid so much so that i couldn't talk to my friends, becoming a mute. They made me feel stupid by talking about me in a negative infront of me. i let alot of ppl down that night by not organizing the night properly and have suffered the consiquence but i'm still a paranoid reck and am worried about all the past experiences where i've messed up.

OK. This seems to be an unpopular point of view. I think if you are scared and are in a situation that is scary you should get help before you think about trying to become aware of controversial issues.
Some people, however, choose to look at things in a way that a lot of people don't like to. There is strength in this! Some people believe that others should be aware of less than optimal happenings. For me, this is OK. I'm glad I'm different. But I also know I am paranoid and need God to survive. It is your choice what to believe.

Also sometimes I get into quasi-extatic states. It is uncomfortable sort of, although it is better than being down.
