Q: Eating more and losing less
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 7th, 2008
Hi.
Im very confused about my situation right now and I'd really like a bit of help in this since it's really bringing me down.
I'm eating an amount of 1,400 calories a day. I was looking to up calories slowly so that I could eat more since I thought that 1,400 was too little for me. I don't exercise and I believe I have more fat than muscle right now for which I believe my metabolism is extremely slow. Either way I was able to maintain a steady weight eating 1,400 each day and saw no gain. Ever since I tried upping, Ive noticed my weight has gone a little crazy on me. First I maintained and had no problem budt then slowly gained a whole pound. I went back down to 1,400 calories and I keep gaining at a slow but steady pace.
What is happening? and what should I do to make this stop?

Thanks.

To gain weight you should take in more calories than your body burns. If you exercise and still take in more calories than you need you should gain muscle mass. If you don't exercise and still take in more calories than you need you will gain fat.

I can only recommend that you exercise.
