Q: eating habits with family

We have a 2yr 10 month old grandaughter one of us believes if she does not eat when everyone else eats and meal is put away she gets nothing until next meal and no snacks either. Is this ok? for someone that young after meal is put away sometimes she aks for the food but is not given any what is the right way to aproach this matter . and health wise for her

What is the goal? That she eats at regular times with the family?

She is too small to adjust her appetite with the schedule family meal...its good to develop a habit of that kind but if you do it gradually it will be beneficial.She will take time to understand that she is also a part of the team....Did you know that through developing a routine you can improve your child's health!!!!

No, this is child abuse. A 2 year old can't be regulated like that. You can't know exactly what is going on with the child's tummy. I would say that with all my children, it was pretty unpredictable how things would go with mealtimes and snacks until they were about 5 years old.

Sometimes they are just too tired to eat, especially at dinner. Offer the food anyways at all meals, and provide the usual snacks in between. Toddlers that age should be eating about 5-6 small meals/snacks a day.
