Q: Eating disorder and puberty

I'm 21 year old male and through out my life I have been stricken with an eating disorder. Currently, I am better. The problem is my eating disorder began when I was 11 - 13, which to my understanding is usually the beginning of puberty for boys. Once I turned 14 though, I was "cured" for the time being. Then when I was 17 1/2 I formed my sickness again and my eating disorder continued until I was 20. Because of my troubled past, could that have caused delayed puberty? At this point I am only 5' 6", 125 lbs, and would consider myself to have a "boyish" body type. I have very little facial hair (it just began to grow over the past 2 months), I have begun to "break-out" with a lot of acne on my face / back, and my voice can be heard "cracking" often. However, other then those quips I would consider myself an "average male."

I guess my question is, am I going through delayed puberty?

Quite possibly. Puberty in boys ranges from 11-15 years in onset. The eating disorder you initially had could have thrown your hormones out of balance, thus delaying puberty. The best advice I could give you is to set up an appointment with your doctor and possibly an endocrinologist.
