Q: Earwax or eustachian tube blockage ?

I had a series of ear infections in my right ear, and afterwards, I felt a constant fullness in my ear. It feels almost like a cotton ball wedged in my ear and it's been like this for years. My mom says she thinks there might be a big piece of wax close to my eardrum that is causing this, but I've also heard that ear infections can leave the eustachian tube blocked or partially blocked, causing ear fullness. My hearing is a bit impaired in that ear, but I don't have any big problems.

Do you think I should go to my doctor to see what can be done about the blockage (do you think it's that serious)? What could I do on my own about earwax or eustachian tube blockage? (I'm Asian so we pick our ears with metal/wood picks, but when earwax is deep, we can't do anything about it without possibly damaging the eardrum. I've used a drugstore ear drop once and get an ear infection because of it, so my parents don't want me to use them again.)

Thanks. ^^

I've had a number of infections this year also. After my last infection I also still felt a fullness in my ear. My doctor told me it's fluid in the Eustachian tube . He said mine wasn't infected..In fact I just wrote a post asking for more info on this.
But the point is if you are feeling this way, even if you don't feel sick from it, you should see a doctor because you dont' want it to effect your hearing. Since it's been a while and it's not healing on it's own you may need ear tubes put in to help your ears drain the fluid.
If it's just ear wax they can get rid of that also. They'll give you drops or flush it out in the office.
