Hello qwertym. I have a quick question, if you don't mind. Are you positive you are only 3 1/2 weeks pregnant? Are you counting from the date of your last period? If so, you shouldn't even have missed a period yet, because that would only be 24-25 days since your last cycle. If you are in fact only 3 1/2 weeks, you probably will not be able to have a surgical abortion yet. I had my surgical early (at 5 1/2 weeks) and I was only about 6 days passed my missed period.

My advice to you would be to wait another week, and get a surgical. It is quick and MUCH MUCH less painful.

As for deaths from the abortion pill, they are very rare. It's something like one out of every 100,000 women. (this is less then the amount of people who die from taking penicillin!) The woman who have died probably didn't abort completely and may have gotten an infection or they may have not followed the instructions properly.

Either way, I would make sure you are really 3 1/2 weeks, and I would recommend a surgical. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Well when i went to my gyno's office she said i am 4 weeks and 5 days, the reason why i say 3 1/2 is because i had a one night stand and i know the exact date when i went out with this guy, so i don't understand why they add on another week or so??? Right now i would be 23 days pregnant i went out with this guy on the 21'st of June. I also heard they go by the last date of your period but, that still would have meant i got pregnant earlier on than i really did. It just confused me so i went with my own calculation. I have gotten my blood work and ultrasound done and thats what they determined. So, in there terms i am further along but, i know i got preganant on the 21st for sure....When i called planned parenthood i gave them my own calculation as to how far along it just seems weird saying im further along when im not...Im going to call the clinic back tomorrow since i probably do qualify for the surgical.... I'll keep posting because im sure im going to still be asking questions until then....Thank you for your help:)

When you ovulate (women ovulate 14 days before their period begins) you are considered 2 weeks pregnant. When you miss your period 14 days later, you are now 4 weeks pregnant. So at the earliest possible moment when a woman finds out she's pregnant, she's already at least 4 weeks along.

Doctors don't date pregnancy by gestational age. They use the method I've described.

I know, it really doesn't make much sense they way they count the weeks, since you can't usually get pregnant during your menstrual cycle. BE careful with Planned Parenthood.

MOST other clinics offer IV sedation which will make the abortion painless, PP does not offer this in most of their clinics.

You would be wide awake.

Women have died from the abortion pill due to infections. Antibiotics are given after surgical abortion, and it is done in a sterile environment, which keeps everything especially clean.

I personally recommend and prefer surgical abortion with IV sedation

Actually today i had found another place that offers Iv Sedation....It is a private practice. They knew who my gyno was when i said her name, but, i am going to ask my gyno tomorrow if she recommends them anyways. I didn't tell her i was going through with this but, i trust her judgment because she is well known, and hopefully the place i have chosen is good. I figured i'd want to be put out for this, and since planned parenthood doesn't offer that, i won't be going there. Thanks for your advice.... I will keep posting im getting so nervous:(

But if you go by yourself, as it was my case, you cant have a sedation because you need to drive back home. Anyway without the sedation is not that painfull really, you only have to breath properly and it takes only like 5 minutes.
