Well I am a male and sixteen-soon to be 17- years old. My father has schizophrenia and I have recently found out that my cousin and some great aunt had also had it, on my father's side. I do not hear voices, talk to myself, or have hallucinations by any means. I am very worried about this off and on, because of the following:

-My father has it and other family members have
-I am very unemotional (including a mostly monotone voice)
-I have always been a little shy, but i almost want to say I'm "too lazy" to talk, because I am constantly fatigued for some reason unknown to me.
- I have trouble making decisions for myself and get extremely stressed and irritated over the littlest things
-I always feel "foggy headed", groggy, and unmotivated. Even though I do play many sports and lift weights reguraly. I also do well in school, although i cannot concentrate.
-I have felt depressed for the past two years, but I just got off Zoloft last week which didn't do too much for me.
-I also have mood swings and am almost always extremely irritable towards everyone.

I am worried about these because I read in articles that these could be signs of early Schizophrenia. And also people usually develop it around my age or in the near future. I probably would think nothing of these symptoms if it didn't run in my family. I have asked my doctor about this and he told me "not to worry about it yet".

Any opinions or support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Smile

If you are truly concerned you could consult with a psychiatrist. What you describe could be many things. ADHD has some of the symptoms you describe. Mood disorders, also, share some of the symptoms you describe. You need to seek professional help to get the answers you want. A doctor can do an evaluation and offer you treatment options if they should be necsessary.

I've been schizophrenic for seven years. Before it hit me, I also was shy before I got to know people but after I got to know them I was very outgoing and relaxed with them, it ran in the family, those are the only two things we have had in common. I wasn't even exhibiting one of the other things that you listed in your post.
