I just started birth control June 22, and today is July 16. So I am on the placebo pill therefore I am on my period! But yesterday at work my cramps were almost unbearable. I was on the 3rd day of the placebo and I thought it was just my period. But my doctor told me the cramps would almost disappear on birth control. Well anyway I bled through a regular tampon within 3 or 4 hours and when I took it out a clot of blood about the size of a 50 cent peice came out. When I got home I took out another tampon and it had tissue-like material that I could just peel off. Did I have a miscarriage?

Hello mariah,

Blood clots oftentimes, comes with one's period. I don't think you miscarried. A heavy period, long period of standing, lifting, changes in one's hormones, there are a vast number of reasons that blood clots form. I wouldn't be overly concerned at this point, however, if you should see larger clots with unbearable pain or if this consists over another day or two please see your doctor.
