Q: Early appendicitis with normal WBC?

On Sunday,I went to Urgent Care after dealing with a fever, right midline/lower abdominal pain, and vomiting for four days. The doctor there thought it might have been appendicitis, so he sent me to the ER. After having all the labs, an ultrasound and a CT, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix. I was sent home with a diagnosis of early appendicitis, but told to keep an eye on things and come back asap if (most likely when) things got worse.

It's three days later, and while my fever has gone down, my pain has gotten worse (not constant, but more frequent) and I'm still vomiting on occasion (but I'm not eating much since my apatite is pretty much dead). I haven't gone back to the ER yet because I can't afford to go in only to tell me to come back when its worse. Multiple trips to the ER are enough to break anyone's bank.

I know it's possible to have appendicitis without a fever, but is it possible to have it without a raised WBC? If I'm still feeling pain like I was (and worse) should I go back to the ER anyway? Thank you in advance for any advise!

I don't know but I do want to know what happened to you. Sounds like appendicitis to me. Lots of people's bodies don't follow norms that are used for diagnosis. My sister almost died 2X from tubular pregnancies that were not diagnosed properly because she did not have pain - she just knew something was wrong. So I understand about suffering a long time before going in but I think you need to go in anyway.

I had appendicitis for at least a month prior to going in. The pain I only had 1 week before going in. I suffered horribly but until I figured out what I had I saw no reason to go in because I have already had 2 other hospitalizations this year for pain issues that they were not able to resolve (other areas.)
