Q: Ear popping due to allergies

Since we moved to arizona my son has a lot of allergies. The main concern at this time is ear popping, he has a lot of liquid in his ears. His pediatrician prescibed steroid nasal spray, I don't like it. It makes him hyper and moody. does anyone have any idea what alse could help?
