hey guys!
i've currently got a wisdom tooth coming through, and i developed a pain in my left ear around 4 days ago, since then it seems to have gotten worse, the pain isn't actually inside my ear anymore, it's right next to my ear above the back of my jaw bone, just below my temple and gets a lot worse whenever i lay down, i can combat this by taking paracetamol on a night so i can sleep, but i was wondering if this sounds like an ear infection or just a symptom of the wisdom tooth, i don't want to waste my doctors time if it's the tooth, and also the anti-biotics would be a waste of time..

can anyone help??

I don't think that patients EVER waste doctors' time! Their vocation is to help us with our medical issues, so don't feel that you're doing them a favor by staying home and feeling poorly.

In fact, I think that the symptoms that you are describing could require diagnostic check up ... perhaps from an ENT specialist or dentist. Do you have an appointment to get your wisdom teeth pulled, BTW?

well i just got back from the doctors (ENT), everything in my ear is fine, so it looks like it's the wisdom tooth,
it's surprised me that something in that part of my mouth could spread to my ear and temples..

in response to your question, i have had a check-up for my wisdom tooth a while ago and she never mentioned pulling it...she did however remind me of the various fillings i need Sad

Ack! Wisdom teeth can become problematic. I'd suggest that you get them pulled...it's a pain and requires a good 2-3 days for recovery, but a necessary evil.
