I have a bump or a fluid bubble inside my
left ear. It is located in the outer ear
canal. It can be seen by others when just
looking in the ear. It has grown within a
week to just under a jelly bean size. It
is extremely painful, IT IS NOT A PIMPLE!
Tried to "pop" it with a sterile needle
but it only bled a little and some puss
came out, shrank just a bit but is still
very prominate in my ear. Hot showers seem
to help when the water hits it, but it is
still painful. I need to know if you know
what it is, if I can treat it OTC at home
or if I should go and see my local doctor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Current medical treatment: paxil
Referring to your description, you
probably have a furuncle inside the outer
ear canal. You shouldn’t try to pop it
with a needle. Warming the furuncle with
warm water is also useful. It helps for
faster “maturation” of the furuncle
when it will pop by itself. You can only
put on local antibiotics and antiseptics
(ear drops or balsam) after irrigation
with warm water.
I think you should consult your primary
health provider.
