i have had muffled hearing and ringing (sounds like a high frequency noise) in the left ear for about a year. two months ago i began having at nightime when the noise would start to diminish a sudden without warning quick sound that sounds like a whip snap in that ear that would make me flinch. this is very unerving because it comes without warning and happens now every night and happens at least 10 times a night til i go to sleep. when i wake in the morning its quiet til about midday and then the tinnitus high frequency sounds begin again. i have had an mri and eeg which were normal. i can deal with the tinnitus but the nightime sounds are startling because they're without warning. i also have become very sensitive when the room is quiet to any sound and certain sound pitches make me flinch. anyone out there have these symptoms and what can be done
