Q: Ear drops and syringing

I have been having some problems with my left ear recently. It would clog up occasionally and result in a semi-deaf condition that felt as if my ears had been clogged up with water - ie, it would hear things quietly and unclear. This would only be temporary and would pop back into place and subsequently I ignored it.

On Thursday I went to the NHS drop in centre that told me it was seriously clogged with old, hard wax and recommended that I purchased some ear drops for it and then see my GP to enquire about ear drops.

I started using the ear drops yesterday, and today my left ear has "gone". It now seems to be permenantly in the above state of semi-deafness. My ear feels slightly damp inside also, but i assume that this is the drops inside my ear that has seeped through the wax.

How should I proceed now? I am going back to the drop in centre on monday (GP is on holiday til the end of aug so he isnt an option...) and see if they will syringe me ear. should i continue with the drops in the meantime? I am pretty concerned as i like my hearing and dont want to end up deaf in one ear for good.

Thanks
