I just had my styloid ligament removed from my right side.My sickness was eagle syndrome a very rare easily misdiagnoised syndrome. It occours when a 1 or both styloids growing off your skull elongates and then cacilfies pretty much it keeps growing in turns to bone.It started with me getting sick normal fever like flu symptoms for 2 weeks when my fever went away my right side felt swollen in my ear and throat felt irriated. This pain stayed with me for 9 years during that time I had my touncils removed adnoids remove saw 6 ent s 3 oral surgeons and was sent to a cancer center, I received numerous blood test x rays and cat scans years apart, not one of these doctors had a solution for me they would blame it on my allergies or the fact that I breath mostly through my mouth.I felt like i should flop aropund like a fish in front on the emergancy room, this pain hurt every day some times wosre the others but always present finaly I saw a oral surgeon who took a panarimic x ray,he pointed to the stloid on the right side and told me to go back to a ENT I did the guy ordered medical x rays and would not look at my panoramic x ray ,he came highly recomended so I took his word the x ray showed no signs so he told me I didnt have it, but ordered a cat scan to make sure. the cat scan didnt show it either he told me I didnt have eagle syndrome and thought I should see a nerouligist,i didnt listen to him went back to my oral surgeon who took another panoramic x ray it showed again i called my ent he talked to my oral surgeon and dropped me when it wdas diagnoised i found a good ent and had my styloid removed hope this story helps some one out the best way to get diagnoised is with a 3d type cat scan
