I suffer with bad sinuses, constantly blowing my nose or removing mucus from the back of my throat, and always have one nostril (alternates) blocked. Along with poor taste and smell.
I've been seeing a doctor for the past year having scans and trying steroid courses, and yesterday's consultation proved an operation would not benefit me, and they can no longer help - and have basically fobbed me off with another, stronger steroid nasal spray.
At the consultation I also had an allergy test, it came up with 3 allergies. Dog (rating 5), Cat (rating 5) and Dust Mite (rating 6). I have a dog, but have had these issues before the dog was in the house so she is not to blame, I do not have a cat, so that leaves Dust.
I'm new to the whole concept of my symptoms being allergy related, and have been doing research to see what kind of things I can try. Apart from the obvious pillows, bed sheets, humidifiers etc - can anyone give any good advice?
Also, if I do buy all this equipment, am I likely to see a noticeable difference?

I've never used a humidifier but all the other things help. Dust is just dead skin cells that the average person sheds every day. So basically you need to be extra clean: Change your sheets much more often, sweep, dust and vacuum more often. Take up any unecessary rugs that hold dust. If you purchase new furniture consider leather as opposed to a soft surface that holds dust. (I lived in an apartment with hardwood floors and the difference between my allergies then and when I had carpet were astounding.) Rather than opening your windows top catch a breeze use the AC- in the house or in the car. Buy a special pillow cover for people with allergies and wash/ change it as needed. Things of this type should improve your situation.
