Hi there,
My son is 2 1/2 yrs old we have been in the hospital for 33 days. He has had surgery on his bowels because of adhesions, he had had this problem initially at birth and it was repaired, they said sometimes this problem arises again. He has a GJ tube in place as well. Before the surgery he was on 38mls per hr of elecare, since the surgery we have been unable to feed him at all, he currently has a broviac placed and is on TPN and LIPIDS. We are also unable to close his G tube as they are now telling us that his duodium doesnt work (it was working prior to surgery) so we have to let his stomach drain 24/7 it we close the tube the fluids back up into his lung and he gets aspiration pneumonia. I feel that we are in a no win situation at this point and we are in a cycle. They also keep telling me that his bowels need to wake up, this sounds absolutly crazy to me, and I would like more information on what other avenue we should take as we can't sit here and not take action. Please any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
