Hi, I'm Hillary. I'm only 16. I've been having very very dull chest pains in my left rib cage. I thought it might be my heart but then I got sick after spending a week in NYC. I went to the doctor with very sore throat, fever (only for one day), and slight cough. He said it was my allergies and told me to take ibuprofen and vitamin c with lots of water. But I did just that and nothing helped. I went back to the docter two days later (today) with a worse cough and a slightly better sore throat and gave me amoxicyllin medicine even though I don't have bronchitis. But I am still scared about having lung cancer. I only had sputum in my mucus once but I think it may have come from my nose, not my lungs (I don't remember if I coughed or what). I used to have horrible bloody nose until I got my nose cotterized (spelling?) so that may be a factor. I have never EVER smoked, no history of lung cancer in my family. Only one relative has ever had cancer (Great aunt) I can't tell where the pain is coming from but it's basically only there when I focus on it. If I am doing something productive it basically doesn't even exist. I am thinking all of this is mental (the pain) in my mind but I'm not sure. I randomly got pains like this during the school year but I never worried about it. I am so frightened of having lung cancer but I have no idea how I could. Unless my house has a lot of radon in it? But I rarely am around second hand smoke and I never plan on smoking. help! I am really scared. My left arm kind of feels weak but very very faintly and I think I could have a pulled muscle or something out of place in my back? Idk. help asap!!!!!!!!! I"M SCARED!

Do you have chest pains in your left rib cage or you feel discomfort under your left rib cage?
Are you experiencing headache and unusual fatigue?

No headache, no fatigue. I get light headed a lot but that always happens in the summer since I have no air conditioning. and allergies contributes. It's in my left rib cage. it radiates from my back to the front but its very very dull. Maybe I pulled a muscle. I was on a mission trip and carry heavy luggage.

I don't think you should worry about lung cancer and other medical problems at all.
I'm sure carrying a heavy luggage is the reason for the pain.
Loading and carrying heavy carry-on bags can cause back injury and chest muscle strain.
Do you feel chest pain by changing the posture?

When i bend far to the right it hurts more but it's not very significant. It hurts to sleep on my left side because of the pressure. I think I may be worrying to much about it! lol =)
