I first shaved when I was 10. I had hit puberty before any of my peer group & not knowing anything about it I felt like a freak.
Once some of my friends also began to develop pubes I allowed them to grow, until the time when I had to have them shaved at age 19, when I had an appendisectomy (co-incidentally by an old classmate of mine who had gone on to be a male nurse).
Then, by the time I was about 30, most of my pubes were grey & although I know there's nothing wrong with this, I never liked the look of it, so I entered a regime of shaving, whereby I shave them once a week. However, once a year I make a point of allowing them to grow, to remind myself of what they look like & why I shave them, so I shave them on Valentine's Day (Feb 14th), then leave them for 6 weeks until my birthday (March 28th).
The weekly shaves only remove a small amount of stubble, but I really look forward to my annual experience of getting rid of the full bush & returning to that lovely smooth finish.
In my experience, I've found that not only do I prefer it in myself & my sexual partners, but that they tend to prefer it in me.
