Q: dry white tongue treatment

Hello,

I have been having problems with my tongue. It has been dry and white for the past two weeks now and nothing seems to help.

I went to my dentist and then a specialist and they perscribed me amoxicilin. I took this for a week but it did not help me. The doctor said that dues to the H-plori acids rising up this causes my tongue to whiten and dry out. But after taking this medication nothing helped.

Would you have any advice for me?

Thank You

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It can be used for eradication of Helicobacter pillory but together with Claritromicin (or Metronidasole) and some proton pump blocker (Omeprasole, lansoprasole...) - so called triple therapy. Did you make Helicobacter pilory blood test? Do you have any stomach difficulties or burning sensations behind the sternum?

I have same dry white tongue
I hope somebody can give me an answer. I had been to 4 doctors, one of them and ENT and no one was able to help. It started in May when I went to the doctor because of hypertension. I had a CT scan and then the doctor said acute infection of the sinuses and prescribed me 10 days of Keflex. After I finished the meds, I noticed my tongue getting white and one morning peeled off a gelatinous film off my tongue like it's acid burnt. I had a constant sour taste in my mouth. It has been for months now and that acid taste and whiteness have progressed to a bit furry or a bit elongated papillae all throughout my tongue and the top of my tongue became extremely dry. My throat is also dry and there is a clicking sensation when I swallow. The constant feeling I have in my mouth is like biting onto a tannic unripe persimmon or a raw banana.

The dryness improved a bit when the last doctor told me to stop taking Norvasc for hypertension. I also stopped taking Omeprazole which was given to me by the first doctor because I really don't think I have acid reflux because when I burp I don't taste any sourness.

This dryness is accompanied by neck tightness and mild tingling of fingers. Please help. I am so scared I don't know what this could be. I was never as sick as this before.

By the way all tests done were normal: TSH, Sjorgren, Calcium, B12, H Pylori, etc.

Burning Tongue and Dry Mouth
I had gotten over Thursh 2 months ago which was from my Steriod Inhaler. My mouth felt good after it cleared up. Now my tongue is diagnosed as a dry mouth and Ent gave me Evoxac which works but......My tongue burns severly constantly also the roof of my mouth at times will burn. Why is the tongue burning so very bad of course there is the dry mouth. Thanks can't take much more of this and no cure and no answers basically.

To this date, my tongue still gets dry and white. Until today no doctor has solved it. Taking Protonix does not help. I have palpable bilateral submandibular lymph nodes as confirmed by an oral surgeon. Test for Candidiasis turned out to be negative. ENT told me my parotid glands are hard and insisted that I have GERD. I don't have any classic symptom of GERD. What can it be? It has been more than a year now.

Everyone sounds just like what I am experiencing and I get alot of pain in the mouth horrible. My Ent made a majic mouthwash which is Nystatin, Benedryl and Hydrocortizone and I rinse every 4 - 6 hours and helped 98% of the time. I don't know how to mix it and only once pharmacist knows the remedy. Mine hasn't been hurting but last two days its been painful. Also, the medication for dry mouth being I have Lupus works good its Evoxca.
Hugs, Sharon

Persimmion mouth
Needaresponsep....

You described my problem exactly when you said "like biting an unripe persimmion"!!! I've been to 7 doctors for the same thing. All test are neg. It's horrible and it's tearing up my gums. My tongue is like sandpaper against the rest of my mouth. Did you ever get a diagnoses? NOTHING helps mine, not even the Evoxac, MM, or any other rinses, gels, etc.
