Q: Drug resistant pubic lice?

I got pubic lice a month ago. I first used Rid. didn't work. did it again 2 days later. still didn't work. Realized that Rid is pretty weak so my dr prescribed me lindane 1%. The day after I had used it as prescribed I found 2 live lice on thigh. I removed them and I didn't find any more and didn't want to treat again since all these things are super toxic and they recommend not to use again within 7 days. Few days later though I did find one. I got Nix from the drugstore. That seemed to work. 1 week later though I started itching again and I found something that could have been or could not have been a louse. My dr prescribed Malathion. I slept with it overnight for 9 hours as prescribed. this was 2 days ago. Today I found another one on my penis. It was alive and looked like a grownup. I'm going to do a second treatment of malathion tonight, but I'm really getting sick of taking all these drugs, my skin is all dry and sore from the drugs. I wash everything, all sheets and clothes, in hot hot water with bleach, even got this spray that I spray all my furnture with. Nothing seems to get rid of these things. I'm starting to think that they might be nesting in my head hair or something. I inspect myself every day, don't see any, and then all of a sudden, there's an adult. where did it come from? if it just hatched from an egg, wouldn't it be super tiny? has anyone successfully used any of the so called "natural" remedies?

Are you using the little comb to make sure you get all the eggs? The eggs don't all die with the shampoo, so you have to comb them out. Yes, I'm sure it's painful to do it down there, but otherwise, they'll never go away.

Did you vacuum the rug really well, too? Put the pillows in an air-tight plastic bag for a month (or how ever long it takes them to die--check on that). You could have someone check your scalp for them if you think that is infected, too.

Also, could you be re-infected by the person who gave them to you?

As a last resort, you could just shave it all off.

Has anyone successfully used tea tree oil?
done all that. combing though is pointless cause the eggs are so close to the skin that the comb can't reach. I've been pulling them out by hand. has anyone successfully used tea tree oil to remove pubic lice? there are several sites that suggest it, but no testimonies of anyone who actually succeeded removing lice this way. I just did another dose of malathion and it burned my skin off in places.

I am in the same boat as you and cant seem to get rid of it. I tried tea tree oil and that has not helped either but it does seem to have reduced the number. Please post if you do find a remedy.
