Hi, My name is Daniel and I was just wondering something about 4 years ago I went thru a Drug induced psychosis from what the doctors say but it's very confusing because it started right after I turn 20. Now they say it was meth induced but what I'm fearing is that when I was going thru it I was in jail. The worst place to be and finally got the help I needed but did not take it very seriously because as I came back to reality I started useing drugs again. now I was able to use drugs without really any problems for about 9 month's and then the symptoms started coming back. I gave up the drugs because I did not want to go thru that again. but at the time I did'nt know that drugs where what was causing it. Well stopped useing and most of the symptoms went away like the fear and other things but I still had auditory voices which where only whispers really. No commanding voices. Well everytime after that I would pick up marijuana and smoke it would throw me into a psychosis that lasted maybe an hour. And then I was diagnosed with OCD which cause really bad anxiety. And one day I smoked weed and it thru me into the worst most scariest psychosis and I really don't like talking about it because my OCD has attached itself to this theme and it causes spikes in my anxiety when I talk about it. Well I guess what my question is do you think that I've screwed my mind up beyond repair I heard that the more times you have psychotic episodes the more harder it is to treat. And I guess I'm obsessing about it right now but it is a ligit concerne. Any advice I would be glad to haer....

I don't really have any advice to give you but I can sympathize. I have OCD and have experienced marijuana induced psychosis several times (I don't plan on doing any more drugs) It is very hard for me to talk about this as well. First of all, no one would understand, and just think I was crazy (and maybe they are right.) Secondly, my OCD latches onto these experiences and makes me think that maybe I'm schizo. I used to be very outgoing and have lots of friends, be able to flirt with girls, etc...I have turned into a zombie it seems like sometimes. I am very good at making social interactions incredibly akward, I have crippling anxiety and have a hard time expressing my emotions. If its any consolation, just realize that you are not alone even though it probably feels that way. I pray that there is a bright future ahead of both of us.

Daniel,

I had a completely comparable experience. Trust me: you can get over it, and will get over it. Your feeling of 'psychosis' is akin to a full blown panic attack, which as you are aware, is linked to anxiety resulting from OCD. You mention that you feel anxious when talking about it--this is also how I felt for a long time. I started seeing a psychologist, and it helped a whole lot. Basically, confronting my 'fear' of the anxiety is what helps reduce the fear. You numb out after a while--it won't last forever. That's whats most important to remember about OCD. It's ok dude.
