I have been checking my lipid profile for the last 4 years and the results are as follows.

Date - TC - LDL - HDL - VLDL - TG
20-Aug-05 - 251 - 102 - 38 - NA - 396
4-Oct-05 - 259 - 121 - 45 - 91 - 458
24-Oct-05 - 181 - 116 - 40 - NA - 146
24-Dec-05 - 215 - 124 - 52 - 40 - 197
29-Apr-06 - 214 - 126 - 40 - 48 - 240
15-Oct-06 - 210 - 105 - 41 - 64 - 320
6-Dec-07 - 224 - 103 - 30 - 90 - 452
6-Aug-08 - 227 - 109 - 39 - 78 - 392
29-Jan-09 - 236 - 91 - 40 - 78 - 392

TC- Total cholesteral, TG- Tryglycerides

On 19th May I consulted a doctor and he presribed "Lipicard 200mg and Atocor 10mg" each once in the night daily at 8.00 pm after dinner for 3 months. I started taking the medicines on the same day.

After taking the medicines for 6 days, I have checked my lipid profile on 25-May-09 and the results are as follows:

Date - TC - LDL - HDL - VLDL - TG
25-May-09: 168 - 88 - 47 - 33 - 163

I was surprised to see the results coming down drastically. Is it because of the medicines and is it possible for the results to come down to that level. Shall I continue them for 3 months as recommended by the doctor. What would be the side effects of consuming the medicines.

Kindly advise.
