Hi - My friends mother has polycystic kidney disease. 4 weeks ago she had a doublekidney transplant by one of the best doctors in NYC. The transplant was a success as far as the doctor says. No rejection or infection. BUT she is in the most pain imaginable. She is in so much pain that she is saying she wish she could just die. This is a woman who is one of the happiest people I know. I am trying to seek guidance from anyone who knows anything about the recovery for this double transplant surgery. The doctor is not giving much in how to relieve the pain except to give it time. But it has been 4 weeks and she spends every minute awake, moaning in pain, and not wanting to live. Please please if you can offer any sort of guidance. Even to know that this is how long it takes and that it will start to get better would be nice.
THANK YOU.

Extremely eHealthy
The quality of postoperative analgesia depends, in part, on the opioid infused during surgery.
Episodes of moderate or severe post-operative pain are common experience and choice of painkillers that can be administrated is narrow.
It is up to her doctors decision, how they'll lead the pain management.
