Yes, they care about others but when they are not stable their behavior is erratic. If they are unstable and their thought process is disorganized then that person may not be aware of the fall out from the behavior. The thoughts may be so confusing that consequences may not be thought through.

As a Bipolar myself, one of my deepest and hardest struggles was to complete a task. Thinking I was ADD at my age was unthinkable. Racing thoughts being on of the most biggest stuggles. But, never once did I not care about the people around me. The ones that have entered my life, are the most important even sometimes before myself.

I can relate. As one manic episode can cause life long harm if the person does not know your disorder. I also know because I also have laid pray to someone, even being Bipolar myself, the hurt was horrific.

correct me if I'm wrong
I have been talking and seeing my wife....to cut short, from what I understand being bipolar does'nt mean being selfesh. The reason I say this is because she told me that she knew she needed to be home[but still a little confused],but from what I see she's using the bipolar as a reason[or excuse if you will]to do as she pleases.I am sorry it is coming to this...but now I'm feeling used.I know that she will want to come back, but I am nearing the point that I dont care.Should I just tell her, come home or pick up?This has been a long haul.Bipolar or disabled..ect..I can deal with, but selfcentered I will not.If I seem rash, please correct me but I believe what is right is right, and what's wrong is wrong.Any advice would be helpful, and thanks for the responces given,I appr

Back before I knew I had Bi-Polar disorder, I used to be like that. It wasn't until I truely accepted and understood it as well as really really wanted to change, was I able to. You owe it to yourself to not put up with that. If she knows she is Bi-Polar and chooses not to get treatment then that is not your fault. If she is getting treatment, maybe it's the wrong kind. And it's also possible that maybe she just doesn't want to grow up, in which case, you should put yourself first. I hope everything turns out better for you. I know living with someone who has this can be very trying.
