does it really sound like a tick bite? doing the right thing?

about a month ago........i pulled a foreign object off the side of lateral aspect of my bigtoe in the dark. it felt like a common mole, wart or very large skin tag. soft, easily pinced between finger and thumb but very attached to the skin. after i pulled it off i grabbed a tissue thinking it would bleed alot but it only bled a little. i somehow lost this foreign object amongst some papers on the floor next to where i was sitting. it felt like there were two holes and just a bit of drainage.

a bump started to form and got larger and larger,( and started forming a head in this same spot. it felt very hard. I sterlized a needle and poked just the tip and noticed clear fluid coming from underneath.i tried to push and poke with a needle to try get all the fluid out but was unable. at this time it lost the hardness feel, except for a ring like shape. i felt like maybe it needed to be lanced /or debrided properly. so i went to my GP,(who is an ARNP)

she said it looks like two bite marks,(even after i had poked it many times with a needle) and thought it was likely from a tick bite.......called it a granuloma, put me on 14 days of doxycycline, with hot compresses 2x daily. she thought heat would help bring it to the surface. she said "if it is not completely gone in 3 weeks to call her back and that we would have to take a different route." that was a week ago,

NOW: IT CONTINUES TO GET BIGGER AND HARDER JUST THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE I DRAINED IT!!!. FYI we have three dogs who sleep with us as well so ticks are possible.

here are my questions:

1. COULD IT HAVE BEEN A WART? could a pulled off wart/skin tag LEAVE two little holes..OR DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A TICK TO YOU AS WELL? AND
2 Even if the hot compresses bring it to a head,wont i likely be in the same situation i was before, that i wont be able to get all the infection out!! or when i comes to a head do i just leave it alone?
.DO I NEED TO GO TO A INFECTIOUS DISEASSE OR DERMATOLOGIST OR JUST CONTinue where i am with my GP? i just dont want to waste alot of time and money with this unnecessarily. do you think i am on the right track with the GP?
