doctor backgound checks

Hello,

Is there any database available on doctors who are banned, disqualified from practicing due to some or other reason_?

I have gone through many articles regarding banned, fake, disqualified doctors, nurses in newspapers and a thought struck me that such database is essential for patients safety.

Suggestions are welcome.
