Q: Do you really want to look younger for your age?

Do we really want to look younger for our age? When you are 50 will you really want the body of 30 year old?

I got carded tonight at a concert stage pass and all where the age limit was 16! I am 25!I didn't have my ID on me. I had to call someone back stage to go get my ID from my purse that someone else had carried in and wait by the bouncer. It was humiliating having to stand there.

This is not the first time this has happened to me. This happens at least once a month for me it gets old. I often chaperone a Church youth group for the 12 to 14 year olds and often get mistaken for one of them.

How many of you would like to have my problem? There all these products to make you look younger none to make you look older?

I know I am an extreme case at 4'11 and 87 pounds but wouldn't you rather age gracefully like Diane Keaton, Sophia Loren, or Katherine Hepburn?

Another thing is a guy perverted if he finds me pretty or attractive? If he doesn't know what age I really am? Or even if he does know how old I am?

I get carded all the time too hun. It makes me sorta proud...as for men hitting on me, well, that does happen. Do they know I am 25, no, not the strangers. But I do believe the kids I tote around hint at it. I just tend to go with the flow and enjoy every moment of my blessed youthful face. Because as soon as I hit 30, its probably all south from there lol. For the guys that seem perverted when they look at you, disregard it if it doesn't creep you out. Men find youthful faces appealing. It doesn't mean that they are necessarily out to grab little teenyboppers.

I feel your pain. I'm going to be 28 soon, but I often look between the ages of 13-16 to people. I've had many problems with looking younger than my age. I'd be here forever describing all my embarrasing situations. I work as a librarian in a middle school, and I have been mistaken for a student even by my own student helpers.

I'm 27 and am constantly mistaken for a 16 year old. It's not so bad most of the time, except I'm also a mother of a 2 year old and a newborn. I get dirty looks sometimes in stores because people assume I'm a teenaged mother with two children.

I'm told constantly that I'll appreciate it later in life. Right now I'm just having to endure it.

I have gotten carded by cops when they have seen me with my ex-boyfriends... even the ones who aren't 15 years older than me. All but him were the same age as me. One time when when I was out with my most recent ex a waitress said while he was in the bathroom "It is so nice to see a daughter and father getting along so well!" I didn't bother to correct her...

I just want to be happy for my age. I think we worry too much about how we look when it's really such a small part of who we are. What I really wish is that I knew then what I know now. If I could go back to when I was in my early 20s, I would tell myself to just enjoy it and not be so insecure. I would tell myself to enjoy my youthful body for what it can do for me, not how it looks in the eyes of others. That would have freed me up to do a lot of the things I didn't do then because I was afraid of how I would look doing it. I think you gain a lot of confidence with age and maturity (and motherhood) and I would never trade that for younger looks.

Yeah, there's a lot of that. But also a lot of people down here are religious and conservative, so I get a lot of "look at that filthy heathen" looks too. Never mind the fact that I have a wedding ring on and my husband's on the next aisle looking at dvd's... Rolling Eyes

Yes
Most people don't think I'm as old as I am. Count your blessings sweeting and hope you age gracefully. The older we get the younger we want to look. I would give anything to get carded now:)

I'd rather see a woman who looks her age than one who looks like she's been injected and botoxed and face lifted. I swear everyone on tv is starting to look the same; that Jokerish, half frozen smile, like you get after you've been to the dentist to get fillings, and those gross, bloated cheeks and lips. Liver lips = not attractive. I wish we could see some thin lipped actresses for a change. And everyone shiny and glowing like they've just had their outer layer of skin scrubbed off for them. Id prefer to see crows feet and jowls any day.

I look older than i am and that does my head in, ok it can be handy from time to time but i get sick and tired of the same sequence of questions,'how old are you really?' me: '17' 'no REALLY how old are you?' me: 'like i said 17' 'but there's no way you can be 17'. I'm usually mistaken for 20-22 so why would i lie and pretend to be 17lol

Mixed blessing
Hey there,
I'm you a decade and a half later. I'll be turning 40 this summer and men still call me a "pretty girl" and think I'm barely 30. The really decent men in my age range tend to respond to me like father figures even if I can tell they're attracted to me. It's ridiculous to want to tell them, "Hey, I'm almost 40 - take me seriously" because it's completely wrong in our culture to divulge that info (unless you know someone well). Partly because I'm fit, have a lot of energy and am a bit shy -- they think I'm still "sweet" and not a real woman. At the same time, married women sometimes act like I'm a threat because youthful looks are what our society says are important. It's a mixed blessing because people (unfortunately) treat you more kindly if they think you're young or look good. Our values are all mixed up.
