Do all dislocated jaws need fixed?

My left side of the jaw was dislocated 1 1/2 yrs ago by a hard blow. My dentist confirms this with a pano. He says that I do not need to worry about this as jaw movement is done with the tendon and muscle. The right side joint is not making crackling noises and sometime I need to move my mouth front to back or side to side to make it feel right. Is my dentist correct in not worrying?
