Q: Dizzy if I don't eat

Hey,
So..
Where do I start,
I've follow to the best of my knowledge a hypo diet for a month and half, with the addition of Synthroid for a week now, (the lowest dose)

My GTT 3H is 5.2
Which according to some website I saw, is normal, and I was perfectly fine and getting better until 4 days ago.
It started slow, dizzy a bit, until yesterday.
All day, I've been feeling like I'm on a boat on an ocean with a lot of wind, and when my husband and I went for a car ride, it was as if I was at a six flags in the roughest ride there is!
So today, I woke up, took my synthroid, ate breakfast an hour later, ate every 3-4 hours, and it's been 4 hours now that I ate and I'm starting to be dizzy. Not as much as yesterday but if I turn my head left too fast, BAM! Dizzy for a big second.
I just ate 2 spoon of quinoa and I'm already starting to feel better.
But I can't eat every 2 hours, I'm not hungry! I have to force myself.

Is this normal? Is this what I'm suppose to go through?
I'm calling my endo tomorrow to get a prescription for a glucometer, so I can look at my sugar level and take care of it.

Also, once I buy that glucometer, what number should I look for?
What number should I aim for, and what number means it's too low?
I know nothing about that :/

Thanks

Yep, normal. You can expect to feel much worse before you feel better. The numbers you get will differ. Depending on how your body reacts, make sure to look more to how FAST you're dropping, not just the level. Anything below 60mg is considered hypoglycemic. However, if you're at 180 and it drops to 70 in a half hour, that's more important. Too significant of a drop in a short time, in spite of the fact that the readings wouldn't be considered low.

Stan,
I was wondering..
Can I get dizzy and still have my blood sugar to it's normal level? What's wrong with me? Sad

I've been testing for a few days now, and when I'm dizzy, I'm still at 5.X
(it's been between 5.2 to 5.9)
(And my glucometer is Canadian, I'm sorry I don't know about the american numbers)

Yes. The problem is that the symptoms are coming on before the blood sugar has stabilized. The reason for this is that the brain is altering you BEFORE it happens, it's a defense mechanism. If you tested it more frequently (say once every hour or half hour) for about a week you should see some differences.

Fantastic! I love my brain even more now, even if I hate being dizzy so much!

And Thanks again Stan for confirming it's normal Smile

Also, don't forget, because your body is overall in a state of chaos, a lot of different organs can be affected, which can lead to a variety of symptoms. Bloating, stomach pain, slight confusion/drunkeness after eating, for example, are signs your liver is not functioning at full capacity (nothing to worry about, but it's a sign it's low on energy and strung out basically).
