About a year and a half ago, I start getting dizzy when I'd walk in wide open spaces alone. Then I began to get a tingling in my right foot that lasted every and all day for a month. When that went away, I began to have heat flashes in my face for about 3 weeks. After that went away, the dizzy spells began to happen when I'd be at home lying around all day. Then it began at work and in meetings. Then it became every public place I would get them. And now its just all the time. When I'm having fun and totally free of my thoughts, I feel like my old self again, but as soon as I remember the anxiety and dizziness and fears, it begins again. I also have these feelings of doom and recently started to be paranoid about certain people poisoning my food and about expired food..but I force myself to eat it anyway and push through because I know its unrealistic. Since I have been forcing myself, the poisoning thing has gotten better. What could be causing all of this and does it all go 2gether?

Anxiety can manifest itself in a variety of forms. Oftentimes, medical diagnoses mimic psychological symptoms. Given that you have several symptoms: dizziness, tingling, and heat flashes, I recommend that you receive a physical examination by a qualified doctor to rule out organicity. While your symptoms may be characteristic of anxiety, you are also beginning to become skeptical of others intentions about poisoning your food, etc. I think confronting logically your irrational fears are helpful as your poisoning concern is improving by your report. As mentioned, medical conditions could be the cause of your symptoms and/or a psychiatric condition.

Begin with a thorough physical examination and when conditions that could be causing your symptoms are ruled out, then you can receive a psychological evaluation to determine your exact diagnosis and preferred treatment.
