Q: Dizziness and blurred vision

Hi everyone,

Hope someone can help me here.

I'm a 34 year old male, fit and healthy i like to think, often run half marathons for charities, etc. However for the past 2 years or so i've had very regular episodes of dizziness with my vision sometimes vanishing completely for a few seconds. My hands often feel numb too and i'm starting to feel tired all the time despite having plenty of sleep. The dizziness feels like i've stood up too quickly, but it happens unexpectedly with no warning signs and is seriously affecting everyday life - driving the other day i glanced in the rearview mirror and lost my vision for a second or two so had to pull over and ask my friend to drive instead.

I've had many tests - blood tests, MRI scan, blood pressure checks, etc - all come back normal. It is so frustrating as i feel i'm making this up but i promise i am not. I have been fine and healthy until this started but now i am getting increasingly worries as to what the problem may be.

I've seen all the Doctors at my local health centre but they keep sending me for more blood tests with the results every time coming back as normal so they send me away again and tell me not to panic. However, try as i might, when it happens out of the blue i feel scared as sometimes my face also goes numb and i have no idea where i am for a while afterwards.

I don't want to go back to my Doctors' as all they say is i need to rest, but i get plenty of rest every day without fail. They eliminated stress too...any ideas what it could be?

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated, thank you for your time and best wishes to you all.

Ive been having otherworldly symptoms of my own, ycnex. I am around your age, lean and healthy for the most part. My wierdness is mainly sensory - like some tight calves and come and go through the day, the backs of my thighs burn for a bit every few weeks, and as of 3 days ago...

My left heel tingles when I - - - get this - rub the outer part of my left shin! It's not a painful feeling, but it more annoying since it has no logical for this trigger of shin-heel tingle.

As far s you symptoms, losing vision and awareness is a serious issue. When my symps began occuring in April or so, my doctor initially told me "Hey, youre young, it's just stress!" Well, I'm not a spring chicken, and I dont believe stress causes any of this. Since then he has backed off the folksy advice and recommended me for a nuerological work up. I would see about having further MRIs done as well as cholesterol and blood sugar tests done. This sounds serious, and it probably has a neurologic origin. Let me know how you make out!
