Q: Distorted Self Image

My name is Alice, I am 13 years old and every day I am subjected to images of the perfect body through TV, Magazines and the Internet. At school I am not the largest in my year, but I am larger than most. In the changing rooms I feel fatter than everyone else and envious of their skinny bodies. I try to talk to my friends about my worries but they just dismiss it, insisting that I'm not fat but I can't believe them. Its hard to believe them when they are naturally skinny. Some days I'll look in the mirror and I'll feel happy about my weight, but other days I am edisgusted with how I look, finding fat all over, under my chin, on my thighs, around my waist on my arms. After feeling like this when looking in the mirror I end up starving myself for a day or two, before giving in and eating. My parents are both overweight, my mum moreso than my dad. I was also envious of my sister, but when she hit 18 she gained a lot more weight, and I really don't want to end up like any of them. I have stretch marks on my thighs, bum and breasts. My Bmi is 23.8, which is in the healthy range, but I still feel larger than everyone else. Sometimes I feel that because of my weight it will be impossible for me to get into a relationship, that boys will be repulsed by my weight. I really need some advice on how to loose weight, please help me before I do somehing really stupid like take up smoking to loose weight or start purging, I want to be stopped before its too late.

The sad thing about weight loss
If you want to loose weight then you should but healthy methods like eating 3 meals a day, a big breakfast and smaller meals after, not eating after 5 and exercsing as much as you can are what I think is healthy however that may be wrong.
Do not go down the route of eating disorder, I did at 13 and 14 was bullimic sadly i didn't loose much weight but actually gained more in the long run.
Your only 13 and boys are not the world, I find boys now are immature and annoying really and I am going to think about boys when they mature.
Also you are still growing so in a few years you could loose loads of weight naturally, my friend lost loads of weight at 14 and shes gorgeous now, people maturing and growing up is a withdrawn process some people faster than others, you should look a head and think in two years or 3 I will be 16 and decide to eat the right ammounts of food and take regular exercise but be healthy you need a healthy body to loose weight and keep it off. Oh oh, at the moment boys will follow the trend of skinny girls but as they get older I notice so does there taste and they are attracted to girls with fuller figure, bums and thighs and breasts so don't worry boys will love you for who you are.
